The heart of any Sufi community is the kitchen. Preparing food consciously and with love is a spiritual practice, providing nourishment for the inner life just as good food provides nourishment for the outer life. In our kitchen, the community takes turns preparing, and cleaning up after meals. Meals are served buffet style and are largely, but not exclusively, vegetarian.
Along with the aromas of cooking, the aura of hospitality radiates from the kitchen. Community members share meals with participants in Abode events, creating an atmosphere of welcome that is one of the first things noticed by first-time visitors.
